Short Film Competition Pätkiä – Shorties from close by is open between October 1st and December 31tst, 2012.

The theme of the competition is A Picture of my Life. The theme is open to free interpretation. This is your chance to tell your story to the world in a EuroVision length clip.

There are no restrictions, in form or method, on the creation of your short film, anything from cell phone-filming to flash-animation is acceptable.  Your submission can also be made in collaboration with a friend or group. The competition is open to all Central Finish applicants or to projects that have a direct connection to Central Finland.

How to participate:

  • Upload your submission to Youtube or Vimeo.
  • Fill out the submission form anytime between October 1st and December 31st, 2012, and include the internet address of your work (on Youtube or Vimeo) in the form.
  • The jury will compile a selection of the submitted work into a sequential series. Those selected for the series will be notified in February, 2013.
  • If your work is selected for the series, you must send us a copy of your submission in DVD format. The file must be in AVI format.
  • The series will be shown on the website patkia.wordpress.com and at the Jyväskylä Art Museum during the Arctic Heat film festival in February 2013.
  • The public will vote for the winner and an expert in the film industry will also choose his/her favourite. The public can vote at both the website patkia.wordpress.com and at the Jyväskylä Art Museum during the screening period.
  • The winner and the film director’s favourite will be announced at the Arktisen Upeeta Film Festival, during the awards ceremony on February 17th, 2013.

The competition is organized by the Live Herring workgroup/ Arts Council of Central Finland and the Jyväskylä Art Museum in cooperation with the Arktisen Upeeta Film Festival.

The competition will take place between October 1st and December 31st, 2012.

The theme of this competition is the Picture of my Life, and the theme is open to interpretation.

The competition is open to anyone living in Central Finland, or to any story related to Central Finland. The maximum length for any submitted film is limited to three minutes.

There are no restrictions on the original format of the film, however, you must be able to upload the film to either Youtube or Vimeo servers.

The short film entry does not need to be the creation of one single person; several people or a group can enter together.

By filling out the registration form you give the organizers permission to show your work on this webpage as well as at the Jyväskylä Art Museum, in the event that your work is chosen for the screening series. Moreover, all entries could be published on this page after closure of the competition.

The organizers reserve the right to withhold unacceptable material.
